This chapstick support keypad pattern is super fast and easy to sew and fits directly into your keychain so you always have your chapstick with you. These make great gifts and are a fun beginner sewing project to try! I've enjoyed giving you a lot to try lately. Sometimes you want to sit down and sew something and you don't have much time. Besides, it's fun to sit down and make a project from start to finish in a short amount of time, right? This is so fast you won't believe it! Anyone with basic skills of beginner sewing should be able to do this too, which is nice. It could even be great for kids or teens to sew. It's a keypad pattern and I think you'll love it! Keep this useful thing in your keyring so that your capstick or lipstick or lipstick is always ready for you! Many of my readers have said that they do this as a gift like a stocking or something like the master's appreciation. You can do a lot of these fast and it's a great too! Chapstick Holder Keychain Pattern:Supplies Need: Sewing Instructions: Here is a process video to make it easier for you to follow! Start by cutting your fabric. You just need one piece. Cut about 3 1/2 inches wide and 9 inches long. Now, fold it in half with the right sides together and sew the long side: Turn right and press the plane with the seam on one side: Hem a edge bending under about 1/2 inch, tightening it flat, folding it under 1/2 inch again, pressing the plane and sewing through that point: Now, turn it over so you're working on the other side. Hem the other end. Then fold a couple inches so that there is only one inch or two on the top: Sew the two sides of the part you just folded: (this is the rear view) Then thread the top hem through your key ring: And you're done! Wasn't it easy? I hope you loved sewing this chapstick keychain! You might also like: Reading Interactions Comments Joan says a great idea! I certainly will. Thank you for sharing it with us! Victoria L. says good idea. I tried it myself. Except I used lipstick instead. Tavette says "Good idea" and I imagine robbing the ring at the top is what keeps your chapstick from falling. By adjusting the measurements – it would be very useful to keep your lipstick if you go somewhere fast and just take your driver's license instead of your whole bag. We have to start thinking about quick and economic gifts for Christmas and this will be the first on my list. Tavette – S. Fla. says: I love simple and quick projects like this! Definitely doing this later! 🙂 Rebecca P says I've tried this today and it was a little WAY for a regular-sized Chapstick to fit in. What sewing subsidy did you use? I used 1/4 and then tried 1/8 and was still small:(. The length was good, but I ended up having to bend almost the width in order to do it large enough for a Chapstick support size. I was able to fit some soft lips in the size I made using their sizes listed above though says I use about 1/2 inch sewing margin and that there is a regular, simple-sized, platestick, so I don't know what happened to yours? She says, Rebecca, I had the same problem. Larger size to 3 1/2 ing. I did a lot of these today so my grandchildren would put their books bags. Love them! Kylee says I used 4 1/2 for 9 inches and it worked perfectly. J Bond says Not all platestick roller tubes are the same diameter. This works perfect for the traditional thin. Many are a little larger in today's diameter. There's a need for two sizes. Ellen Hughes says she had difficulty fitting the ring on the top, as it seemed to pass, but not as a double ring. Maybe you advise me. Otherwise, thank you. He says I had to work too. It's a little hard-only still trying to guide him there and it must work. Marcy says I'm gonna try this and just hammer in a metal. The little one. The exact name eludes me. Lawana Guy says this is so cute! Debi says great idea of using scraps in the sewing room. I intend to use pieces of collegiate and sporty equipment fabric. Joan says I also had to increase the width to 3 1/2 inches in order to fit the chapstick. The length was fine. So my measurements were 3.2 inches by 9 inches. He says, "That's what he said was the size. Look! Karen W says I'm thinking she edited the size. Janis Hammond says I cut mine at 3 1/2 for 9 and it works great. I made a closed end sewing before turning to remove some bulk. Literally I've dug pieces of fabric from my trash to make these-we're going to try to sell some this weekend. Thanks for such a nice idea. Priiscilla says The measurements he gave were 3 1/2 for 9 inches at the top of this page. Karen W says I think it changed the size. SA says the instructions were perfect. Thanks to the comments, I made my side seams very close to the side edges. Fit was perfect. My fabric was 3 1/2 x 9. Carlette says Amber, where do I have the rings for the support? Says I asked Etsy Julie says "Thank you for the very good and clear instructions! I was killing myself trying to find neoprene chapstick sleeves, but they can only be ordered in much of 100. I just wanted something practical to give my kids 7th birthday party a favor. Yes, my son. Boys like chapstick too, but usually their enlarged alll for girls. I used fabric that coordinated with our superhero theme and found a pack of lanyard rings and clips for a few dollars in my local craft shop. Excellent! I made rainbow separated for the girls, and an extra pair for me and my family/friends. The hardest part for me was turning the right sleeve out. Sandra K says I bought a 10-ring package at Walmart for $2 a week ago. Thanks for the instructions! Liz says what a turnkey size Any says. I think I used an inch. Donna smith says my grandson keeps his lips cut he's a licker on his lips and he loses the cap stix constantly I was telling my husband that the weed to have something there for me that could do using a key ring to connect in his backpack for school you saved your lips a lot thanks Say the cute idea! Sherry Brown says what a big deal! I manufacture fabric bags to give and use strap rings. From now on I will have these adorable chapstick holders attached to the bag to make them more special. Thank you so much for this idea. Ashley says I just finished mine and it turned out perfectly! Thank you for the clear instructions! It was made for a great first stitch project with my new machine 🙂 Gayle says Another quick and easy project w directions perfect and images. Thank you so much. Mine made us our great! Erin says I have a question, if someone wants this with an embroidered name, what would be the instruction on how to do that? Says, you need a embroidery machine. Do you have one? Erin says yes, ma'am. Izzy says don't worry, I got it now. Says Hi. I loved this project so I decided to include it in my post and use your photo with a link back to this post. Please let me know if it's okay with you and tell me if I need to make some changes. Here's the link to the post, thank you. He says, it's a great idea! I've been wishing to make all the handmade gifts this year. I'll try! Says I made a present today, including your chapstick holder. It's on my blog. Thank you for your ideas! Vicki says I already had lipstick made on my list to make Christmas presents. I saw this post and I knew it would be the perfect accompaniment! I bought a couple of cute fat rooms in the pastime store and spanked 24 of these shortcuts. (I could make 24 out of a big room.) I also added a lobster clip to which I am giving to the ladies. I don't like a lot of things in my keychain, but I'd cut it in the zipper tab inside my purse. Thanks for the inspiration and great instructions. He says I just found this and I love it. I'd love to do one, but the templates don't work. Cassie says Use a 9-inch 3 1/2-inch fabric for supports. Any type of stretched fabric will not work. I used denim. He says I love sewing and embroidering and a simple project like this is what I need to start. Thank you. Lotte Reinacher says I have my sewing machine for a month. I was looking for an easy project to practice a little before they start with a big one. I did three of these and kept the instructions and this place... I love it! (I live in Holland, so I'm sorry that there are probably some mistakes in this text) Xxx L He says: I hope it's fun! Sarah says Lotte: There are no mistakes in your text! I find it exciting and fascinating how easy the internet is to share ideas and projects with people from around the world! Good luck with your new sewing machine! Sarah (USA) Helenia says this was so cute I had to prove it. I think it went pretty well. Know that I have to do something else for the family 🙂 She says: Very beautiful. I should have something at the top so I don't follow. A strap maybe. But still very beautiful and simple. Patience says I made mine from a thicker tissue and set it up in a pinholder with a small snap inside the ends. Kim A says This is so cute and perfect to use my many pieces of cute fabric. I carry at least 2 tubes of chapstick at all times, so I will probably do 3 or 4! 😉 Julie Hawk says you're still surprising me with your creativity! Thank you so much for sharing your gift! Anonymous says I'm using this as a last minute gift for my best friend. I can't wait to prove it! Tami says I love this! I made one for me that was quickly stolen by a friend. Obviously, I'm gonna do a lot more. I will modify the measures for some to have a pepper spray can (this was requested by another friend). I can't wait to get busy on both of you. Thank you very much. Smart says! Spencer says Wow! That smart! I can't wait to try this a Spencer says what stitch did you use? He says, just a normal straight point. 🙂 Zoggz says I tried it and for some reason a regular-sized chapstick didn't fit into it. I probably did it wrong, but I thought I should let everybody know. It's so cute! Beth Jahn says Addresses say there's a video to watch, but I don't see a video link anywhere. He says, "It's right in the bottom post the sewing instructions. 🙂 Beth Jahn says Hmmm. Not Google Chrome when I look. He's on my iPad, but after seeing the ad he says the video is not available. Alternative Zoggz says I fixed it and it works great now. Thank you! Julie says Every year, I make simple and functional birthday gifts for everyone on our list. Often, I struggle to find something adaptable for all age genres that do not take hours or break the bank. Your idea hits all the right marks! I'm making my own lips balm, and giving three games to each person. Thanks for sharing your wonderful idea. He says I'm so happy to hear that! Huntress says what keeps the stick from falling? Do you stay because it fits well into the support or did I miss something in the video? It seems to me that the support is straight up and down with a pocket at the bottom with the chapstick then it is open fabric for a couple of inches until reaching the top where the keychain is located. So there's no closure like velcro or a snap that keeps it in the bag? I'm sorry if my question seems stupid but I have my first sewing machine and I'm learning to sew. Thank you. I love this project and I can't wait to start making some for gift to some friends. I would like to modify a couple to accommodate the small bottles of hand disinfectant as well. He says, "Yes, I fit in there swollen enough that I shouldn't fall." 🙂 Huntress says thank you. I wish I had taken a picture of what I did for my mom for Christmas. I had found a beautiful keychain with a cross on it that was in the authorization for $1.00 and I knew my mom would love it. My mom's always looking for her Chapstick too, and I didn't want to give her two separate keyring. To get the cross to lay flat on the back of the support cut a triangle of the cloth after bending over the top edge where the ring passed then I unfolded it and grab the edges of the cut to reinforce and fold it again to sew the hem. I pulled the cross out of the key put the connector's piece in the hole and rolled the ring on the top as always. It turned out amazing. He loved having his stick with her at all times. So thank you for sharing all these wonderful projects that even a beginner like me can do something special. Carmen Cochrain says I had a candle party and gave it to all my girls. They love them. I had to go a couple more for some of his daughters... LOL. After I put the key ring on my I added a clip and hangs outside my purse. I love it! Amber says Impressive! Wendy says I've done this many times and I have the problem that was too loose so I've adjusted what I was doing so now, the stick is nice and... Well, no, I lost my chapstick so I was thinking maybe I put a brooch on him. Robin says Made this past month for my niece's birthday. He added a lipstick and hooked it to a zipper bag that I also did. It was in a tote I made. He loved everything. I'm gonna make another balm bra for my other niece, too. Fantastic! Robin says to have to cut fabric wider and narrower seam beginning to make sure that the lipstick fits the end. I should have sewn a 1/2 inch seam and not 5/8. You can always sew your sides for a tight fit. Robin says of course... too wide and the key ring needs to be big. I really have to sew more often! This should be basic to me. You have a fantastic website with really cool projects! Thank you! Ana Malu-Lainaholo says Thank you for the wonderful instructions and tutorials! I can't wait to do it tomorrow morning! M says where the video is! says right under sewing instructions. It's the first thing. Bethany says a very good deal, but it's already done. The size was WAY TOO SMALL for a regular size Chap Stick. He was so sad – he already had pre-cut tissue for 20 of these and they're all too small. The length was fine, but you need to adjust the width to 4.5 at least. Try A piece of fabric first to see if it matches your chapstick, otherwise it will probably regret. Bessie says I love this idea, but I did it a little bigger to keep my Bear spray boat. Karen says trying this now after cleaning my sewing machine. Great beginner project. I hope it turns out Susie says I just finished this, and it looks so cute in my water bottle! Thank you! Amber says I'm so happy! Karen kent says I wonder if you could do a double side to hold a chapstick and a mini hand lotion or hand disinfectant. You'd have to make it about 13 inches long and fold W from the center. I think I can prove this. Great idea! I'm looking for cheap gifts I can make this year at home due to the "roa". Thank you for such a wonderful blog and video! He says, "Yes, you could do this any size. Great ideas. Primary sidebar, hello! I'm first and foremost a mother to four boys.
